Cos they're evil and they eat puppies...whole. Without first, properly cooking them. Their blood red nose, their decaying, creepy, white flesh, always chasing kids, the smell of whiskey on their breath, blood stains on their clothes.
Their jaws unhinge like a snake's and then...oh, wait!
Nevermind, that's my dad...his nose would "honk!" when you poked it too.

Actually, I don't hate clowns. I just hate BAD clowns. A good clown is a little creepy, but just on the right side of interesting.

I do hate velvet clown paintings, though.

Their faces always appear friendly and safe, even if the person underneath the makeup isn't. A clown is a walking lie.

Clowns also dress too crazy to be appealing to me. I think a guy in regular clothes, with no makeup, could still make kids laugh by being silly and using lots of props. Think Buster Keaton, or Johnny Depp in "Benny & Joon".

Maybe I just haven't seen many good clowns.

As a child I was terrified of them, probably started when I saw a toy one that was evil in that movie"Poltergeist". There is a scene where the giant clown toy is just sitting in that chair and it seems like it is staring at the boy who is in bed terrified. The boy finally gets the courage to throw a blanket on the clown and runs back to bed to hide. When he finally looks out again the blanket is on the chair but there is nothing under it. He starts looking around the room, but doesn't see anything. When he looks under the bed the clown peeks out and grabs him by the arms and pulls him in.....eeeeeeee... that movie was scary for various reasons. Then I saw the clown in the movie "It", talk about insane fear. So yes, as I child I feared them.

As time flew by I got rid of my fear. Now I just plain dislike them. They think they are so funny. I just want to kick them on the shin.

They are deceitful you really can't tell if they are smiling or grinning,or about to kill you and eat you!! The first house I got, this clown, french looking with the fluffy collar,he keep looking around the corner and would slowly smile{or grin}at me.When I would look directly at him he would not be there.{I was not on drugs}One nite he turned the furnace up on high and it was burning out of control, you could lite a cigarette off it.I was asleep, and woke up because I got hot and heard the thing roaring.I got up and could not believe this was happen, but things were flying off a shelf, into the floor.I tried to cut the furnace off and it was red hott.I had to use some rubber grip pliers. After that nite I started sleeping with a Bible under my head, until I could move out.I watched killer clowns from outer space last nite. But I generally don't like them.

My daughter hates clowns because she can't see the real face of the person underneath, she also hates Halloween costumes with masks or anything else that covers up someones face, ski masks, whatever. She witnessed her fathers murder, and the murderers had masks on so if she can't see someones face it freaks her out.
