How do you talk yourself into finally letting go of some of that old sentimental stuff?

i am, i got stuff in boxes a storage building that couldnt fit in my room no more. One day i am going to go through my stuff and if i dont use it or ever think i will put it out again i am going to get rid of it.

My husband tells me I am. But you know what, my mother, father, grandparents and my aunt are all deceased. My children weren't able to know any of them and I feel I need to pass things along. My husband hasn't lost his parents yet so he doesn't understand. I feel my kids will appreciate having this stuff when they are older and be glad that I saved it for them. Atleast they will have the choice if they want it. I have also found that in the past I got rid of things I didn't think I would use, and now I wish I still had them, cause I could've used them.

the way i have done it is i place things in a box as time goes by i add things here and there... then place a lid on it.. mark it as old stuff...then about a month or so I get rid of the box... with out opening it... if i haven't used it in a month or so I don't need it... I didn't say it was easy but it does work

if you can have a sale and make a lot of cash, it's not so bad. I go buy stuff at thrift stores, then have a yard sale and make a lot more (usualy) than I paid, but I still have a hard time getting rid of the really cool stuff.

From one packrat to another, This is how:
MOVE CONSTANTLY!
The more you move, the more you throw away cause you don't want to have to move all that s#it again and again! Selling old stuff off works too. Cash is always good.

i keep all my old sh1t. you grew up with it why throw it out? that would be like throwing grandma out just cause she doesnT have that brand new grandma smell anymore.
