MSN Messenger = 1863

You're going to need some sort of filter on your gateway. Microsoft ISA server is one way, but it's expensive to buy and a bit of a pain to configure.

A better way would be IPCop, an open-source firewall available at http://www.ipcop.org Get one of the Squid proxy add-ons like Dansguardian to filter internet access. It's all free and can be run on an old PC.

make a GP to block these executables from running and apply it to those specific users.

blocking the port will block everyone from using the IMs

on the firewall block

chat.yahoo.com
webmessenger.yahoo.com

or the best way is to block the keywork, chat , webmessenger, so that no other sites can be opened where your office ppl can chat.

Cheers !!!!

If u ahve a server customer community, u can acquire MS ISA and then u can block the MSN and yahoo and the different chat difficulty, Or if u have homestead windows server you may verify for the port utilized by the chat application and disable them
