lol, BACK hair not BLACK hair!! both my babies had hair on their shoulders and right above their butts, itr's normal. before the baby is born they are covered all over their body with that hair. sometimes it doesn't all come off before they are born but after a few months it will, then it will be the blonde peach fuzz kind everyone else has.

Nothing is wrong with the baby. Both of my nieces were born with pitch black hair all the way down their back and on their bottom to. They lost all of it before they were a year old.

No. some baby's are born with hair. They say is causes the mom indigestion. All 5 of the kids in my family ( my siblings) have been born with black hair. Lots of hair LOL

Both my kids had black hair too. Now my son is practically blond, and his sister has light brown.
There may be somthing wrong with the baby, I would not know. The black hair thing though...not a problem.
OH! you said back hair...my bad.
If we are truely decended from monkeys I guess this could be the normal de-evolution of man back to its original form...
JOKING...back hair goes away too, the hypothyro... answer above handled the question quite nicely.

sometimes babies are born with silky hair all over there body and it usually goes away. There is a genetic dz called hyperhirsutism where the genes that control hair growth are missing and so your hair doesnt stop growing. You end up looking like a werewolf. It's extremely rare though

Perfectly normal. Newborns often are born with hair in places you wouldn't usually expect, like backs, ears, bottoms, etc. It will eventually either shed or lighten up so as not to be noticeable. Congrats on your new niece!

nothing wrong at all my first son didnt have this problem he was fair skinned blonde reddish hair at birth but my other two babies were dark skined dark black hair and hair on back, arms, and ears. I was worried but it will come off. It is there to protect them while they were still inside the mother.

No there's nothing wrong with the baby. Babies are born with elevated hormone levels, so some have pimples and stuff. When the hormone levels drop off, the hair will disappear.

Please do not Nair the baby! ;)
