Even with sustained high growth, the influence of the US isn't waning so much as shifting. If it weren't for the open and welcoming markets in the U.S., China's economic growth would be half what it is - we had such a voracious appetite for cheap goods peddled at Wal-Mart.
Inflationary spectres loom on the horizon, and these could easily stunt the growth of China's manufacturing economy. These pressures will be brought to bear in considerable form - for every factory constructed, apartment tenement raised, street paved, auto sold, etc, you will find the prices of basic economic stuffs (oil, natural gas, asphalt, steel, concrete) increase precipitously.

I find it a plausible hypothesis. America owes China and Japan a great deal of money, and while this isn't a problem for now since America can simply print the money to repay its debts (hooray for owning the world's reserve currency), global financiers might eventually shift to a less service-oriented and more product-oriented economy, such as China or another Asian contender.
I think the fact that so many people are starting to talk about problems for the US Dollar says something about confidence, something that definitely matters. For instance, the phrase "ponzi scheme" cross-referenced with "american debt" has 417 hits on Google. Ponder that.

Yes, because Neo-cons will cause the American economy to collapse.
The very basis of the flawed logic of the Project for a New American Century is to maintain American global hegemeny in very 20th-century terms. Theoretically, American war pig conservatives will continue to stir up trouble until they have a justifiable reason to wipe out a major region of the world again and gain an upper hand. What will probably happen, however, is that these idiots will ruin our country and send our economy into obsolesence.

China has strong economic growth, but the US has pretty good growth as well. So it's a case of would you rather earn %10 interest on $100 or %5 interest on a $1000?

Yes 2020 is the day.
We produce more milk, more grain and are far ahead than other countries in agro based industries.
Already the boom is visible.Thats why US is very happy to create a chaos all over the Middle east - and asian countries.
