Yes, some companies do operate that way. It's up to you to find one.

I have also taken classes for Medical Billing & Coding. I don't know how you would own your own business. It would probably be better to work for a company, and do it at home. That is what I hope to do. Good luck! :)

No, not anymore, you must be in an office with their own PC's and have direct connection to insurance company's. If some place says you can, just pay us to go to school here, don't be fooled by that. They are all frauds. You want a degree? Well then, get yourself to school and then you have to work in an office, whether it be hospital, clinic, etc. It is an easy job, and decent hours. But you will have to go to the Gym, cuz you will get out of shape by sitting all day.

I agree that you would most likely only find opportunity working for a company. Working from home is becoming more popular and cost effective for many employers.
I do not quite understand if your main goal is to 1) work at home or 2) do medical billing. If you are looking to only work at home there are many ways to accomplish that without having to limit yourself to medical billing...maybe you want to keep your options open?
You would not need a business license to work from home unless the laws in your area require it. Look at zoning laws for your area.

It depends who you work for. Some let you clock in from home and
others require you to work at work. No, You don't have to have
your own business to do so.I would try to talk to some people already in the field, past alumni etc. Maybe they could tell you about
the companies they work for. Also if you go to job fairs that is a
question you could ask at the booths.

Yes, you'd end up working from home once employed by a company.
