During daylight hours I sometimes hardly worry about things..ie financial, health, whatever...but at 3:00 am they can seem like the most upsetting thing in the world. I understand from other people that they notice the same phenomenon also..Why is it a night? Because there are few other sensory input distractions?or what.

That's exactly it. Your mind is running through the day, you're tired, you dont have anything to distract you from thinking about things so of course things are gonna seem worse

During the daytime, a person is always occupied with jobs to perform. But while lying down and doing nothing or while going to sleep, the physical activity stops, where the brain used to be occupied for even making the simplest to simplest decisions, like walking, holding, writing, etc., now in the time to sleep, it is un-occupied and hence, all the thoughts that you were holding up to give a thought later, suddenly rush towards you, instead of coming one by one.

I would think because you are busy with other life issues during the day and you don't have the time to think about the things that bother you at night. At night there are fewer distractions so you mind has more times to circle around your problems, and since it is late and you really have no one to call amd talk to you about your feelings, then they seem alot worse,

Because you feel more alone and isolated from any source of help. Also, you tend to be tired and that may affect your judgment. If you've been drinking, that's even worse. In Russia there is a saying, "The morning is wiser than the evening." And if anyone knows depression, it's the Russians.

I think we all feel alone at night- even if someone is next to us. It makes you confront your mortality. The good thing is that everything seems better in the morning. This is why so many people have to take a pill to sleep- to shut off your mind. Zanax works well to alleviate the problem!

You're on the money, less sensory distractions. You probably have some anxiety, sleep problems are normal reactions to stress. My Dr. prescribed me Lunesta, it works well. I read the Bible before bed too, it does help me.

Because during the day your mind is busy with day to day activities. At night we have more free time for our problems to occupy our mind.

It's the things under your bed. They're transmitting negative energy into your head.
