OK, i'll tell you the problem: My laptop is having several errors and fails to open programs such as Internet Explorer, Outlook, and many other important functions on my computer. This happened just recently and I have no idea how it did, because I haven't tampered with it in any way. I also need to know if I should get a new computer or if there is a way to reverse/fix the problems i'm experiencing. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A55-S1063 that is less than seven months old, for those of you who are wondering.
Another thing you might want to know is that the problem is not associated with a virus...that's all I know about the whole ordeal.
Answers are greatly appreciated!

I don't think tigerdirect is your answer. Its a horrible store with horrible ratings from other users.
I also do'nt think a bad or corrupt hard drive is your answer. It most likely is a configuration error, which may be caused by spyware/malware or an improper removal of a software program.
I'd reformat the drive , start over, and install Windows XP again (or run your system restore disc if you don't have only a Windows CD). Then run scandisk to make sure your hard drive is not corrupt. If its less than 1 year old, you can get it replaced/fixed by the warranty. Again, i highly doubt that is the problem.
Do you hear a clicking noise? that is what a failing hard drive sounds like.

One thing you need to keep in mind is do you have your windows update on automatically? if you downloaded some updates it can cause your laptop to act funny. usually try looking for some new updated drivers for you laptop as well as bios update.if all else fails you would need to re image your laptop to as if it came out of the boxes and work you way back to when you are not so you can actually determine what could have caused your system to act funny. oh yeah by the way try system restore if it will let you do so.

Dust and filth accumulation within the computer. A computer demands to be wiped clean once or more a 12 months or extra by and large. Well if your positive it is not a virus, could it be spyware/adware that is gumming/bombing your machine? Secondly there would be no need to get a new PC, as long as perhaps Toshiba gave you repair/reinstall cds. Or you have your original OS cd (Windows XP install Cd)

I would have to say your hard-drive is failing, test it thoroughly right click its icon and run the disk error check, if it can't run it will on reboot so select to check on reboot. My pc has a bad hard-drive and does this very same thing, i have a new hard drive on order from http://www.tigerdirect.com (Best deals On wheels... oh i mean the internet!) BTW my drive checks out fine on the error checking and all other tests BUT IT IS WORN OUT!
and errors sporadically anyway, iam sure yours is too...

Well I have the same computer you do, and I don't know what the problem could possibly be. I would suggest formatting the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP on it. If you want anymore info, let me know at k_braughler@yahoo.com

I have seen a similar behaviour when the MS XML package was not registered in windows. After I ran these commands in a dos prompt, it solved the problem. Here are the commands.
RegSvr32 MSXML.DLL
RegSvr32 MSXML2.DLL
RegSvr32 MSXML3.DLL

Try system restore, defrag your hard drive, and start using Firefox (which is SO much better than Internet Explorer). Good luck!

try a repair install of xp first, you won't lose any data or programs, if that doesn't work, try ccleaner, free download, and repair your registry, if that dowsn't help, just save what files you can't replace, and use your system restore dvd, make it like new again
