is it fair that only "healthy" men or women can be put to death at the time of their death sentence...like if their sick, they get medical attention only to die? that doesn't make sense to me, can anyone shine some light on the subject?

It does seem to be a waste of time and money, but if you think about it, what if by lets say making a deal with the prosecutors office by turning over information they would've avoided getting the death penalty.....can you say that if the person were ill they could still make a sound decision on their own part? There is also the question of your last words and asking forgiveness, if you believe that your immortal soul depends on it.....then again if you were ill would you confess your sins and ask forgiveness prior to dying?
There is also the 2nd possibility of someone preferring the death penalty to life in prison because they are sick and if they weren't would've preferred life in prison....I guess in that case it clears out the wannabe's from the have to's.

They do that simply to keep all the human rights people from complaining and costing the legal system additional millons of dollars. It does seem a waste of money, but wasting tax payers money arguing with someone about whether it's humane or not is also a large waste of money when the person is going to be executed anyhow. Probably cheaper to give them medical attention.

I totally agree..it seems a waste of medical supplies and time only to have the person die later.

it's hard to get your head around this one, that's for sure - it's a good question and though I cannot give a definitive answer I would guess that it's their little sneaky official murdering way of pretending to the great uninformed who elected them that they are actually nice caring guys just doing their humble bit for the community and, oh yes, just in case there actually is a loving, forgiving God, it might help their case in proving that they are worth saving - as opposed to being a mindless SOB in a suit and tie who'd murder his grandmother if there was a buck in it and a good med care package
