Medical school involves 4 years after a bachelor's degree plus residency which is anywhere from 3-10 years. You will be in your 30's by the time you get a real job. Add to that the cost of med school and you are talking several years of debt, which can be repaid with potential future earnings, but it is a long road.

It just depends on what you want from life. If you want to be a physician, with all its attendant headaches, then you have to really want it. PA's have a decent lifestyle with a decent wage and fewer headaches. On the other hand, the income potential isn't as great.

I've graduated med school in '95 and can't imagine doing anything else. I love what I do. I am fortunate, however, to have a loving wife who stays at home with my kids and takes care of them. I will never win any father of the year awards, though I do try.

PA's also help people and occasionally save lives. I think the potential to achieve a more balanced life with fewer sacrifice up front is there for a PA.

How committed are you in pursuing a medical degree/internship/specilization?

Does blood, poop or vomit make you gag? It did that to me; I became an attorney.

You have more choices than med school or an MA/MS in PA.

MBA, JD, DDS, Chiropractory school, et al.

Do not limit yourself; find out what would please you for the next 25+ years.

First I would learn to spell so I don't have to use numbers in place of words.

I'd just go for the MD.
