It stands for the company that made the zipper. It's a Japanese company whose initials are YKK. It stands for Yoshida Kōgyō Kabushiki-gaisha. No idea how to pronounce that lol, but yea, that's what it stands for. Good question. I always wondered that as a kid, I always kinda thought it was supposed to be the sound the zipper made when you pulled it up/down real fast lol!

In the early years, Mr. Yoshida's company carried his name; it was called Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha or "YKK" for short.
