I gave a friend a letter telling her that my feelings have changed. They went for long time friend to falling in love with her. At the same time I gave her her birthday present which was expensive. She rejected me for my feeling but kept the present and never said atleast thank you. Should I get mad or write it off as a stupid mistake on my part?

We never dated or really had any intention to date. I just wanted her to be honest with her and tell her the truth. She has not spoken to me or returned my calls since the day I gave her the present.

I'm sorry that she didn't at least say thank you for the gift. I understand that you wanted to be honest with her, telling her that your feelings have changed towards her, but I also think that possibly writing it in a letter was not quite the right thing to do. There is nothing better in a friendship than communication. Expressing your feelings and your thoughts. You really needed to take into consideration her feelings, however not knowing her that well made that difficult. You were trying to express yourself in an honest way, but then gave her a birthday gift at the same time. Although she did accept it, she was probably a little lost for words to say the least. To her, maybe she felt that a simple thank you would be misleading somehow and her feelings are not the same as yours.
There is no reason for you to get mad. It was your timing that was a little off. Unfortunately you learned having to lose an expensive gift, although perhaps when she has given the situation a little thought, she may attempt to talk to you.

Just consider it an expensive mistake and dump the non-appreciative girl.
