USB stands for 'Universal System Bus' as the name suggests is a port that supports devices of varying ranges and at this port, is the speed of the device that matters. Now, PS2 port is for PS2 compatible devices ie. the mouse and the keyboard. So, the bus speed of a PS2 mouse or keyboard is the same as that of a USB. It doesnt matter what. U only have 2 see the convenience.

It depends on the device.
Although USB is much faster than the PS/2 interface, that doesn't mean the device you're using will be. Mice for example can work fine on either. Some high-end optical mice do work better on USB, as they are refreshing movements over 100 times a second. But again, it depends on the device.
If you have the choice of using either, obviously go with USB. If you're worried about upgrading to USB, don't be. It will be on your next system since nothing new today on store shelves require PS/2.

I dont think this is about speed. I cannot measure the bandwidth of my PS/2 ports but I do know this. I have a USB mouse and keyboard but I have the keyboard plugged into a USB-PS/2 adapter because I cannot use the keyboard in my BIOS if connected to USB and I do have legacy support enabled and this is a NEWER computer motherboard (less than a year old).
Also: Message to some people who responded: PS/2 mice are readily available still and will be because they are cheap. And USB is Universial Serial Bus.

I do think that PS2 is not about speed as its application is quite limited and is not suitable to transfer information. Besides USB is the new way to go. USB 2.0 is a better choice if you are transfering big files around. Definitely USB.
