Well I see a lot of answers out here. I did not know such a lot of options of cleaning a silver ornaments.
Anyway, two very basic methods are still there used by almost all. But first I must make it clear that silver ornaments do not "rust", but turnished for which you can see a change in the colour of silver. It would be very dark instead of bright glazing white.
The first methof of cleaning is to heat the ornaments to a certain temperature. This could be done by putting a fine steel net over your gas stove/heater, and putting the ornaments over that. But there is a problem. If the temparature rises beyond the melting point of silver (which is quite low), then your ornaments may get distorted. So, you have to be careful.
In the second method, we prepare a solution of tamarind (dried and black in colour) with water and put the ornaments in the solution for some time. Afterwareds rinse the ornaments with slightly warm fresh water and it would be as good as new.
Hope you'd be able to use them effectively. Would you let me know, please?
