I just had surgery (five days ago) to have a non functioning macroadenoma removed. Everything went well and I am at home recovering now. I found out about the tumor because of a severe headache. After two MRIs, visits to an endocrinologist and visual field tests, I scheduled my surgery. I am supposed to fully recover without the need of any hormone replacement. I just hope all the tumor was removed and there will be no need for radiation. I'm in my mid 30's, very healthy and I had no idea what a pituitary tumor was before I was diagnosed. From all the tumors you can have in your head, this is the easiest to treat. Good luck.

I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor ten years ago. I had to have an MRI every six months so they could see if it was growing, and when I went for my second checkup the tumor was gone. These kinds of tumors are always benign, and since they are affected by hormones, they can go away on their own. If they have to take one out, they go through the eyeball socket with a laser, and you won't even have a scar. They won't take it out unless it grows, because then it could damage the optic nerve and cause blindness. My health is fine, and it was fine when I had the tumor too. The leaky breasts were kind of odd, but easy to deal with.

I have a small pea sized adenoma and I have to take bromocriptin. I never thought the headaches would be due to that but I maybe. I don't know about my health as I have been stressed with my husband's health but it's getting better now that we're both back working. I have trouble losing weight.
