from before. I grounded her for 3 days, she promised to just smoke premiums from now on, should I lift the grounding?

ok so what is the problem with generic cigs. They aren't going to kill her any faster than premiums however they are going to cost less. I started smoking when I was 12 yrs old. By age 20 I woke up most mornigs to cough up brown speckled flem and light up. I finally quit two years ago using an as seen on tv product called smoke away. It gaurantees you to quit smoking in one week or your money back. Rather than ground her for the brand of cig she smokes you should buy her this product and encourage her to use it. It is ine week out of her life and if it doesn't work then you have lost nothing but time. As for your question. Her excuse is BS. Even if the cig was left over she could have trashed it, and bought only premiums, so she deserves to be grounded.

(teenager speaking)

don't ground her. speaking from my point of view, if i was grounded for something like that, i'd only want to do it more. its a 50-50 thing. she says it was left over, and it may have been. and then again, maybe not. let her make her own choices and mistakes. i believe truly that a parents job is to show their children the right way, despite the fact that kids will want to venture out on their own. you can tell her that generic cigarettes are bad.. but it'll never really get to her unless its her own decision.

so heres my advice.
lift the grounding.. and talk to her for a minute. tell her that you trust her to make her own decisions...but that you truly have her best interest at heart.

hope it helps.

So...you grounded her so she would just smoke a different type of cigarette? I thought parents were suppose to encourage their children not to smoke at all...
