It will be up to the Judge or hearing officer listening to initial hearing.. However, you will NOT be responsible to pay child support effective the date of birth, the child support order can be effective the date you go to court OR effective the date she filed for child support. For example: If she waits until the child is 10 years old to file for child support petition then the support will not be effective the date of birth but effective the date she filed or the date the case goes before judge.

I think you only have to pay support from the time that paternity is actually established. Go ahead and find out so you will know and it will release a burden off your mind if the child is not yours and if the child is you can try to make up for lost time in the child's life.

as soon as she files for support, tell the judge you are unsure if it's really yours. You will get the results in about a week then child support will be decided. If you wait and want a paternity test in a few years and the kid is yours, YES you will have to pay back support!

WRONG. the law is....until paternity is proven you will NOT have to pay back support. My dad found out 12 yrs later that a child was his and he did not have to pay back support. Dont worry trust me

After a paternity test is done and it is established that you are the father, a court would set a date for support to begin. You would not owe any money prior to a court order. Good luck...

i don't think you would owe back child support for the time being when paternity is in question
