Thats not an exhaust, thats an intake snorkel , used for increasing the fording depth of the truck, Fording is crossing water filed ditches etc. By raising the level of the intake, and water proofing the engine, you could literally go as deep as the snorkel would allow.

that is actually the air intake system for the engine. It is usewd in deep mud and water
