I have to leave the trunk door open and worry about the battery will be drained if they don't turn off by themselves after a while. If they stay on, how long can they last (approximately) before the battery is completely drained?

MAYBE YOU COULD CLUE US IN TO WHY YOU WOULD NEED TO LEAVE YOUR TRUNK OPEN.

TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR MANUAL. SOME CARS TURN OFF ANYTHING THAT IS DRAINING THE BATTERY WHEN THE ENGINE ISN'T RUNNING.
IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT BMW'S "DISCONNECT" THE BATTERY SO AS NOT TO CAUSE A FIRE, SO YOUR LIGHTS MORE THAN LIKELY TURN THEMSELVES OFF AFTER A WHILE.

If it's easily accessible, you could just take the bulb out and not worry about it at all.
