i just came into possession of guppies. some are pregnant,. how long do they stay pregnant, how many do they usually have? how long does it take before they are ready to be pregnant again?

Guppies are capable of giving birth every 21 days, but only if the tank conditions are right. They can hold them in for months if the tank isn't warm enough, has no hiding places etc. Female guppies are capable of getting pregnant as young as three weeks and can carry enough sperm for 5 batches of fry. Guppies will give birth every 21-28 days, up to six times from one sexual encounter (they store sperm for 6-9 months).
Prepare to have 20-50 babies per drop (per birthing).
Remember to separate the mothers from the babies, as they will eat the fry. If this isn't possible, make sure you have lots of plants and other hiding spots for the fry to hide in. Also, make sure that your filter intake is covered with pantyhose or with a filter sponge (as you don't want the babies to get sucked up). Be careful with your weekly water changes (we used airline tubing instead of the normal gravel siphon) so that you don't suck up any babies.
The fry will need to be fed once every 2-4 hours when born. Feed either specialized fry food (Hikari makes a great firstborn food called First Bites), or finely crush your normal flakes in a baggie and feed them that. You can also supplement their diet with crushed cooked egg yolk (you can put it in a brand new spray bottle with water, shake it up really well, and spritz a little bit on the water).

about one to three months, usually is 30 to 40 depend on the breed and the size of the female guppy.
It took them one week to get pregnant again as the the female guppy still contain male segment even after they give birth

28 45 days depending on the strain 20 to 100 babies mostly 25 to 50 it takes 2 days till a cople weaks
