The front door of my house has small shaped glass panels. One has shattered. It is a wood door. The glass had two panes one clear on the outside of the door, another inside the house with a glazed design. The outside pane, shattered. I guess the wood expanded. What should I do. The door is in good shape I do not want to replace it Also the glass is shattered but still in the window.

you need to take out the stops this will be a 1/4 round piece of wood that hold the glass in.replace glass and then replace stops.they may be held in with pins and then glazed.in this case you need to remove the old glaze remove glass shards .replace glass, fasten in place with pins then re-glaze.glazing is not an easy thing to do and takes a bit of finesse.you may want to leave it to a professional.

I have never replaced one in a door, but have done many windows. I used to have a bad habit of locking myself out. First you need to measure the size of the pane. You can usually buy a piece of glass at any hardware store. There is also caulking which you put around the new pane so that it stays in place. This can be messy and you have to be careful or it will be quite noticeable. There are many hardware stores that will help you with exactly what you need. I would recommend a neighborhood one over one of the big retailers. I have gotten most of my help there.
