I'd have to paraphrase Mark Twain: "The rumors of the death of radio have been greatly exaggerated."

Video may have been well on the way to supplanting radio as the way we all get our music, but MTV made a weird choice somewhere along in the mid- to late 90's to stop showing music videos, essentially. Older people like me (I'm 37) remember the days when MTV was solid MUSIC, 24/7 - no "Spring Break Specials", no "Pimp My..." (fill in the blank), no whatever shows pandering to whatever is perceived as being the most money making thing out there. I *love* music, and stay up on current music (my favorite current band is Angels and Airwaves), but cannot stand MTV at all. Twenty years ago (gah!), I would quite literally watch it all day. Now, no way. I will watch MTV Classic, though, for a video fix now and again.

Now, with internet radio and satellite radio, the audio medium is stronger than ever. Of course, we may need to look to the lyrics of the old Queen song "Radio Ga Ga" as a fitting appraisal of much of the junk on the airwaves that's being passed off as "music," but that's an entirely different post...

Yes, as time goes on, visual aid is becoming more in demand with the public. Imagination is becoming a lost art.

Yes. Otherwise it wouldn't have been the first music video they ever played.
