IN THIS VERSION THAT YOU MENTIONED...her boss saw her looking at some [questionable] documents and pushed her out the window...it never let you know if she was actually dead or not...but all the cats from the neighboorhood came and started to take turns sort of breathing into her face and rubbing on her and stuff...well she awoke with a different attitude...she went from the reserved introvert to the outgoing life of the party...its all about taking chances and not taking any crap from anybody...hence---
catwoman...
so it led me to believe that each of those cats maybe gave her one of their lives or a portion of it anyway...

She becomes like a cat because a mystic cat picks her to be the next cat woman. Then there's a lot of other stuff that happens that builds the side plot. She really don't become cat-woman till she gets killed. Then the mystic cat uses it's powers to bring her back to life and when she does she get the cat abilities. I recommend you watch it. That part is really coll to see.

In this version it's the same way Buffy became a Vampire Slayer. Both were born into it. In fact I think there are suppose to be nine (as in cats have nine lives) cat women running around at any one time.
