Can't decide between these two amazing drummers-- Dave Lombardo of Slayer, He is very powerful, fast and comes up with the most amazing riffs. At a Slayer show it is definitly the drums that drive the music, you can't help but be amazed. i was lucky enough to stand right next to him and watch his power at a small club when he was playing with Fantomas.
The other is Dale Crover with the melvins. He can play the most simple of beats one song and the next do very intricate and unreal sounding combos with such ease that you can tell it is just a natural ability. i have seen them several times and each time dale has a different drum kit combination of instruments. once he starts playing the live show he doesn't seem to quit, playing little fills inbetween songs with a most demented look on his face.

Neil Peart is the best rock drummer I ever heard - but I am also a huge Phil Ehart fan (from Kansas)

I know most people don't listen to Jazz, but check out Buddy Rich - simply amazing

The Stones have maximum of super hit songs that it quite is complicated to single one out. If I had to easily decide for one it would probable be "i'm unable to get no delight", released in 1965. the reason? It has all the hallmarks of the appropriate of the Stones - a memorable riff, super vocals and a pounding beat.

Stephen Morris of New Order, by far... but I admit, that's a bit of a biased answer hehe ;-)

System of a Down's drummer, John Dolmayan comes a close second. He's fantastic!

DARREN KING!!! (of MuteMath fame)
he can drum on anything and keep a beat. it's amazing. he has to duct tape his headphones to his head before everyshow cuz he goes so wild, and sometimes his headphones still fall off. hahah.
in the middle of their set, they have this little percussion catharsis where they just rock out. he balances a mic stand and a stool on top of the piano and then after that he goes back to his drum set, all while tapping his little cymbal rhythmically.

Ringo

Though my most admiration goes to the drmmer of def leppard...can't remember his name but he relearned how to play after his arm was severed.

Oh and Mickey Hart / Bill Kreutzmann have done the most unique, talented drumming I ever heard!
