I totally understand! My ex was/is a crazy alcoholic and bad repeat offender. He has gotten off easy everytime he got in trouble...probably cuz mommy has money and he has a good lawyer. But still, you'd think the judge would see through all that after seeing him in his court so many times in one year. He's back in jail right now on a probation violation stemming from a charge that he was originally looking at 5 - 50 yrs in prison. The charge got reduced and so did the time....the maximum time for the reduced charge was one year in jail.....unreal! And it pisses me off cuz I was the victim from some of those charges and I felt like they treated him with more kindness and compassion than me!

In a lot of jurisdictions, the judges are voted in, or are appointed by whom is elected into office, as well as the prosecuting or district attorneys - everyone needs to start paying attention to these things and vote or this will always continue to happen. It can be fixed, but it takes work, research and dedication to get people involved.

no, they don't. I watched an offender walk away with a light sentence myself. disgusting. The prosecutor told us it was because they judge couldn't understand what the victim went through. We need to get more empathetic judges on the bench.

those judges need to be impeached and thrown off the bench. The court system is not meant to be a revolving door system. We need to keep these people off of the streets

Another good question would be, what about the lawyers that defend rapists and such? sure americas a great place to live but get a load of that, we support and help guilty men avoid paying for what they did.
