Just curious

I never expected such naive responses to such a thoughtful question.

Of COURSE humans are biologically polygamous - in potential if not in practice.

Most of western civilization is culturally monogamous, and given infidelity rates, we're not very good it.

Think about it. How many people do you know who have only ever had sex with one person? That's a rhetorical question, of course, because the answer is zero. People seldom marry their first sex partner. We don't meet our soulmate when we are 17 and spend eternity in bliss. Most folks shop around in some fashion. We date. We enter commited relationships. We try out different people to see what we like and what we don't. Some folks just whore around. But all the while we are racking up sex partners. Even if it's done one at a time, the desire is there. Behind the advanced mind we are but animals.

There's a difference between fidelity and monogamy. Being faithful is a choice...choosing attraction is not. I do admire the optimism.

And I suppose you are the biologically polygamous species? I think that monogamy has been adopted for a reason. First of all, when you are truly in love, you do not want to be with another person. That is how you know that you are loved and you can rely on that HUMAN being. Anyways, some animals understand that concept as will(swans!!!) I hope one day you will find that one person, instead of wondering why you cannot be a polygamist!! If not, I would suggest moving to Utah!

If you are saying that humans are supposed to be polygamous; that is not true. That is only what the immature males, who don't have enough respect for themselves and others; would like to make society believe. This would make these immature males feel better about having a sexual relationship with multiple females at the same time. There may have been a time, in the long past, that one male would have multiple female partners, but that is no longer the case. I actually watched a man try to argue a case for what he was calling "polyfidelity," in other words he was married, had a mistress on the side and wanted his wife to accept the arrangement. The counselors told him that their definition of polyfidelity was CHEATING, and was not acceptable and his wife did not have to go along with it at all. Hope this satisfies your curiosity. Have a good night!!!

Humans aren't animals. They are capable of controlling their sexual behavior. This "biologically polygamous" bs is nothing but an excuse to run around on your spouse. Or, even better, it's an excuse to NEVER GROW UP. Which is what I suggest you do.

What do you mean by biological? A mans needed to raise a man. If you can raise several at once and end up with good results, go ahead. If you don't want kids, nothing's forced. Find seven women who don't mind each other.
