They have discovered that they have deep sea oil fields that would be a windfall for all of Cuba!
How long until the Bush Administration 'discovers' that Castro is an evil dictator with WMD's, and the Cuban people must be 'liberated'?

Apparently, Cuba is currently doling out contracts for this oil, and yes, talks of lifting the trade embargo have started and stopped over the years. I'm sure they will start again in earnest!

Uh, this thought has never been from the surface with Bush, I am sure. Actually for the past 15 years there has been discussion about lifting the trade sanctions on Cuba. If not for the Cuban expats who start to make a bunch of noise whenever this is discusse it would probably not be an issue. If Cuba discovered a lot of oil right now the sanction woudl probably disappear right fast. The trading relationship with the middle east is just to difficult to keep on with.

U.S. has more oil than it could ever use in the next 5 lifetimes. Alaska, off-shore, shale, etc. The problem is they may hurt the environment so they say. I found it very interesting that after Katrina hit the south that it hurt alot of our production facilities. Which are mostly located there. So why don't we have more refineries in differant places? The oil companies would not be able to make historical windfalls if they did that. They need to keep the supply low and the demand high. Its a dirty rotten shame but it can be good as it may and has started people looking for alternatives.

Wow, I'm not too surprised, I just saw on the news that Castro is in the hospital, with some sort of intestinal bleeding, and this is the first time since he's been in power, that he has let his brother take charge.

Hmmm . . . about 15 minutes?
I think Castro is no fool (unless he's senile). I bet he's signed contracts with China already selling the reserves and their production. That way, even if W invades, he will have to fight the largest army on Earth (the Red Chinese Army) to get his grubby little paws on all that oil . . . .

Why? He just died today. Cuba will become the 51st state, just like we promised them back in the 40's.
