It doesnt happen without any experience. You will have to work your way up from an entry level position.

Good Luck! Are you familiar with mortgages at all? If you know how they work and have a basic idea of the types of programs there are, then you're off to a great start. While you don't need schooling to become a loan officer, please realize that there are hundreds of programs out there. I am constantly reading up on programs and underwriting guidelines. You also need to have good communication skills so that you can explain how these programs work to your customers. And there are also federal and state guidelines to follow. Since you're in the Philly area, you might also be interested in knowing that there may be some legislature under review requiring loan officers to become state registered. There is already a mortgage solicitor registration requirement in NJ. Hope this helps!

I work for a bank... and typically, to be a Licensed Financial Specialist (a securities officer approved by the Securities Exchange Commission) one would take the 'Series 7' and/or 'Series 9' and/or 'Series 10' exam.
Typically, there are a few Financial Certification Exams. If you pass one of them, you're sure to become a loan officer by way of training from your financial institution.
None require tuition from a tradition school education.

If you want to become a loan officer, you should start by getting a teller job at a bank or credit union. I would personally start with a credit union because they typically pay more than banks do.
You may not want to be a teller, but you have to start somewhere. And without experience, it's probably your best bet.

You are correct about the school part. You don't need it for this particular job, however it could enable you to reach that goal much faster.
Without education in that field, this is a common career path.

LISTEN if you live in philly you do not have to go to school to be a LOAN OFFICER. depending what part of philly you live, NORTHEAST, SOUTH WEST. WHATEVER.
