Reportedly Mel Gibson made some anti semantic remarks while being arrested for dui the other day.Is he just human and didn't know what he was saying because he was drunk? Was his remarks taken out of context?..It's a shame if his career is over in Hollywood because of one drunken stupid mistake..what do you think?

Why must people be so damn harsh and judgmental? So Mel Gibson got drunk and made some rude remarks. Was it wrong? Sure. But if he wasn't Mel Gibson there wouldn't be this media storm. If he were Joe Schmo it wouldn't be splashed all over the tv and newspapers. The man has an obvious problem with alcohol. Where is the compassion the Hollywood community brags about? Doesn't a person have the right to make a mistake any more? He didn't kill anyone. He made some bad choices and apologized and is seeking treatment. Should his career suffer. No. Will it? Maybe slightly. But in a very short time another famous person will do something equally bad and Mel will be out of the lime light. In the mean time seeing his movies is a separate issue and those who think boycotting them is right has a right to their opinion. But let's hope they are not " the pot calling the kettle black." Everyone makes mistakes. It's called being human.

The Mel Gibson that we have all grown to love in the movies has nothing to do with him as a human off the screen. His movies can not be erased from our minds and if one chooses to, anything after this date can always be boycotted.
If Mel has issues with Jews or any other group of people, I personally can not condemn him, only hope that he understands that ignorance is not a healthy way of thinking and hope that he will find a way to rid himself of the ugliness of bigotry.
Mel has many demons to deal with and has a family whom I am sure love him and can help see him thru this ordeal.
Negative publicity and forums such as this only brings out the ugliness in others as a way of making themselves seem better than Mel when they really are not.
Give the man a break. He ****** up by opening his mouth too wide and letting his ignorance come forth, We have all done it and hopefully been forgiven for it and learned from it. Mel is human too. Give him the same chance.

First of all, I don't think it was just one drunken incident. you have to look at the repeated reports of his anti-semitism. And as for having a drunken outburst, you know what they say, "in vino veritas" (try the languages section if you need to know what that means). Also, I will try to temper my pity for the poor guy with knowing that he has more money than god and doesn't need to make anymore movies for the rest of his life.
That having been said, I really do like Mel Gibson, but I can't stand his beliefs, or the fact that he can get out of trouble because he is a celebrity and pals around with the sheriff.

I do not follow your logic.

I have not read any such news report yet either.
Only that he was pulled over for DYI, not that he said anything like that at the time.

I read statements he made afterwards, and he sounded very contrite for his actions.

He is an extremely talented action and comedic actor. He is an extremely successful producer too. Not at just producing, but also knowing what to produce that will be successful - those two different skills.

I have seen Gibson in a number of interviews and he always comes off as humble, modest, self-depreciating, a good story-teller, and with a tendency to tell stories that reflect favorably on others.

I will still see his movies. Why you ask? Because I'm an immoral jerkoff who doesn't care about what is right or wrong, as long as my needs are being fulfilled. And, we can see from the past experiences of people who get a bad rap in the press that it only serves to enhance their career. This will work the same way for Mel Gibson. I only wanted to add that it is referred to as the "Jewish Media" and "Jews Control Hollywood" only because the Jewish people are so damn talented at all of the skills neccessary to excel in that arena! It is okay for other groups to be in "control" of other areas of industry because of their particular talents, but once the Jewish people are in charge, it becomes a "conspiracy". It is the same thing with the situation in Lebanon. It seems to be okay to allow Hezbollah to continue, as they have for the past 6 years, taking pot shots at Israel (including rocket attacks, killing of civilians with suicide bombers, etc.). And when Hezbollah plants their military equipment, including rockets, practically in the baby cribs of these innocent Lebanese children, what blame do they receive? None! What is Israel to do then, as these cowards hide behind these innocent children, taking pot shots at them, daring the Israelis to attempt a reply. Who is to blame here? It is very obvious to any clear-thinking person that if Israel were to be left alone unprovoked, there would be no war whatsoever going on in that part of the world. It is the various governments and terrorist groups in the region that know no other way of life but to make war and to hate for hate's sake. They might have to actually get a job if being a terrorist was not the "thing to do". The leaders in the region might actually be held responsible to do something for their people, if they did not have Israel to point a finger at; blaming the Israelis for their own people's woes. It is a big farce! And we all know it is! We have a situation where one group wants to see another group annihilated; dead and gone! And it is not for any logical reason. Perhaps it is a way of getting rid of the cause of their bruised egos? For here is a tiny little country that in less than sixty years has accomplished what they could not do in 600 years! Uh! Oh! The old system of the pashahs, the ayatollahs, the hezbollahs, etc. could come crashing in around them, if their people might see a better way of life. No, these "Great Men" would much prefer to see their "subjects" uneducated and filled with the fire and brimstone of religion as their bridling opiate. And thus Israel, and all the greatness it stands for, must be annihilated toward that ridiculous, self-serving end!

Of course - he's human - he made a mistake...we all do. He just lives in a fishbowl. I'll bet this happens every Saturday night in every municipality at every police station...we just don't know the Joe Blow who got caught. Mel is talented, and I am sure he's embarrased. We've all made embarrasing mistakes...who out there is going to cast the first stone? I will see his movies -

I think there are some lingering issues deeper than random insults from a drunken stupor, but I will not boycott his movies if I want to see them. I see movies for entertainment, not the issues the actors & actresses have. Susan Sarandon is a very liberal, but I do not think that makes conservatives boycott her movies. Similarly, I do not see a lot of democrats turning in their T2 box sets.

If ever ran for office, I would not vote for him, and this issue would come into play, but the only office I think it likely he will hold is the box office.

I've heard that after making that movie, Passion, he's had alot of death threats and harrassment - especially from the jewish community. Perhaps something happened that really upset him... perhaps it upset him so much that it drove him to start drinking? Famous or not - if someone threatened the safety of myself and my family - I might say a few bad words and even make some racist comments (even without actually being a racist). When you are angry, you tend to lash out.
