Depending on what city you live in, there is usually an underground website that lists the spots to get access. Just type something like "wireless internet or hotspot" and you city into a search engine.

Well, you could run around the neighborhood stopping in front of each house until you find an unsecured home network.

Otherwise a hotspot is where you go. Your library may be one.

Here in Ky our parks are hotspots well the big ones, and you already said coffee shops. What I did to find out was look it up on the internet where hotspts are in your city. And it should list the places... good luck...

Try the library or some free Internet coffee shops.

Use : http://maps.google.com

Then in the Google search bar, type:

free wifi Internet (and the zip code of the area you are interested in)

In my city, all public libraries have free wireless, and a lot of cafes and parks do too. I never heard about McDonald's having it, but that's something I'll try out.
