Yes, the theory behind this legislation is that if people are forced to work 5 hours less a week, then for every 7 people, there would be one more 35 hours a week job being created. This was supposed to encourage employers to hire more people, creating more jobs.

In reality, what this did was create job inflation. People get paid the same amount for less work, which means that the same product costs more money to make. This means there is less profit for the same product. Business are not going to take let their bottom line slide - so they increase the cost of their product. This cost gets passed on to the consumer, who now wants to buy less product - which equals less profits for businesses. Of course, businesses are not going to want to hire more people when they are making less money.

This is what happens when government tries to force the economy into creating more jobs.

yes...french in general are lazy people. They think they are better than the rest of the world only because they have an inferiority complex. And true, they prefer not to bathe...hence they came up with perfume.
