I think it will be the Padres...they ahve a few good pitcers and Peavy hasnt ven pitched great yet..Piazza is showing some good numbers along with the othe rcathcer Bard..I think you will be surprised by the D-backs making a run for it..I am forced to watch them b/c of where Ilive now, and they go hot and then cold, if they get a hot streak late, they wil make you think aboutthem.. they have Webb who always oitches well..then Bautista and a couple of the other young guys have throw some great games, followed by some football scores the next time, but if they get a confident run watch out
just want to add this out of left field..Mark Grace anouces their games, if you have never heard him do a game, he is actually very enjoyable, so humble for a guy who wa a top notch player in his day..I am a Met fan but hate Kieth Hernandez and Tom Seaver as annoucers they are arrogant, I loved them when they played..but not in the booth..too bad Bob Murphy is no onger with us

There is no doubt in my mind that the Padres will win the NL West this year. Their pitching staff is the best in the NL and Peavy hasn't hit his stride yet. Adrian Gonzalez is becoming a stud at first and Cameron is starting to provide some pop. They still lack a strong bat at the hot corner, but Roberts provides speed and Giles should start to come around soon. Greene also provides some power at shortstop. Add into the equation one of the best bullpens in the NL (Hoffman & Linebrink) and I don't see how the Padres don't come out on top in the NL West. I know you'll laugh, but the Padres are my sleeper pick to win the NL pennant.
The Pads win the NL West with a record that's 3 games over .500.

I'm a San Francisco Giants fan so I have to root for my boys, but I really think that the Diamondbacks will end up winning the west. The Rockies are falling apart, The Dodgers Suck no matter who they get, and the Padres always fall apart at the end of the season. Last year was a fluke. So I think it will come down to the Giants or the D-Backs. The Giants if there bullpen doesn't get there heads out of their butts are in trouble. So I think it will be the D-Backs. and yes they will be over .500 by more than a few games.
