I get severe migranes right before & right after my monthly. At the moment I take 800 mg. of Ibuprofin when I feel them coming on.. However I know how bad that stuff is for you in the long run.. Messes with your liver & kidneys. Anybody know any alternative/herbal remidies that are proven safe & do work?
Thank You in advanced.

Also with my migranes I also get skin break outs.. not pimples. It is more like dry red patches of flaky skin..just on my face on the creases along the side of your nose & at the corner of my mouth & under my bottom lip. (very imbarassing & irritating)
( I do have sensitive skin so I do have to watch what I put on my face.. (SIGH..)
It is wierd.
It comes right before my monthly & clears up about 3 days after.. along with the migranes.
Also I am "fixed" & not on any birth control.
I never had any of these problems until I got "fixed". thats is what is very wierd to me.
I also went to my obgyn & all my tests came back just fine..I was told it was just hormones & no advice except that migrane medication that is practically poison that eases the pain.
Thanks Guys
You all are giving me really good Ideas keep em' coming. I'm gonna look into alot of this info. :)

There are two things going on here.

One is migraine, which can be food triggered. Do you eat things during this time that you don't eat the rest of the month - like maybe chocolate?

For ordinary migraine, feverfew is very effective if taken as a PREVENTATIVE. Lots of people have tried the pills or capsules and said it didn't work, so I suggest the old-timey way of drinking the tea. One cup a day is all it takes and it's not unpleasant. Use 1 tsp. of the dried herb per cup of boiling water, steep 4-5 minutes, sweeten with stevia or agave nectar. Alvita makes feverfew in tea bags.

The other thing you're experiencing is hormone fluctuations. I would guess that you may be having some other symptoms, like painful cramping, back pain, lots of skin breakouts? Vitex berry (also called Chaste Tree) is wonderful for balancing the hormones. I would suggest the liquid extract if you can get it, or powdered extract in capsules. Take the suggested dose 2x daily for 30 days and see if that doesn't straighten things out. Then cut back to once daily.

If Vitex alone doesn't do it for you, add Dong Quai to your regimine. Some companies, like Herbs, Etc. out of New Mexico, make a PMS combination that has those two as the primary herbs.

All of these remedies are prophalactic so must be taken every day, not just when you experience pain.

Have your diet analyzed. It could be caused by a vitamin deficiency. Also, look at other medicines that you are taking. FYI there has been a strong correlation with birth control medicines and deficiencies in vitamin B6 and Magnesium, especially around the menstrual cycle. It could be something as simple as that. Also, you could see a acupuncturist. They can also provide herbal remedies that can help with regulating hormones in your body. I would suggest checking into homeopathy as well, most natural food stores have homeopathic remedies that are designed for specific conditions. One thing that I do that helps me is getting a chiropractic adjustment when i do get a migraine. This relieves mine, along with taking vitamin supplements, but i know that it doesn't work for everyone. Check it out and good luck from a fellow hormonal migraine sufferer!

Your Conditions can be cured with Homeopathic treatment without any side effects or complications. But for that your specific individual symptoms are required i.e What side is the migraine on ? What makes it feel better or worse(Food,Massage, walking about whatever please explain) ? What are your eating habits(Preferences,Cravings or Loathing Whichever) ? How long have you had it ? etc etc and your medical history past and present is required. Exact details about yourself rather than your disease are required, Because Homeopathy treats the patient not the disease and in doing so cures your body of all ailments and suffering.
Take care and God Bless you.

I had migrains also and bad ones, so bad that i went to the hospital because it paralyzed the right side of my body. I started taking a multivitamin that supports blood flow and liver and kidneys and so much more i cant list them all. It has to be better than Ibuprophen!!! Go to this website and try it. It helped me and I no longer have migrains. This multivitamin also has stuff in it to support womens health ie menstreul cramps and such.

What you have is caused by the spike of estrogen and the decrease of progesterone...this is good and it signals the cycle to begin....but most women are overloaded with estrogen because it is everywhere in our food (meats milk etc) and there are many chemicals that stimulate our production of estrogen and there are other chemicals that are estrogenic in their makeup and our bodies belive that they are estrogen. The result is that estrogen in our bodies is way to high in compairison to the progesterone that we are producing. The solution is natual progesterone cream. I have included two links below. There are no side effects and it is safe and natural and inexpensive and will probly help you with other things as well. I did hours and hours of research on this trying to figure out the same thing for myself. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. There is so much to say about it.

go see a chiropractor. there could be many so called "reasons" that you get migraines. The truth is , after an adjustment almost all my patients with migraines feel better and go off their medication.

Keep in mind that as in every profession, there are good chiros and so-so ones. Ask around and see if anyone you kknow will recommend a doctor in your area.
