what's the difference between salicylic acid and berenzol perioxide?

Whenever I've used acne products, it always has said 2% salicylic acid or 2.5%. I've used a couple of products that had said that and they really didn't work out for me. However, I saw a product (clean and clear continous acne cleanser) whcih had 10% berenzol perioxide and IT WORKED AMAZINGLYY! I got rid of my acne. So i'm wondering is salicylic acid better than berenzol perioxide? which one is better? Mostly all acne products have salicyic acid and how do you know which one to use? What's the deal btw these twwo?

Benzoyl peroxide is used to treat mild to moderate acne
Benzoyl peroxide comes in cleansing liquid or bar, lotion, cream, and gel for use on the skin. Benzoyl peroxide usually is used one or two times daily. Start with once daily to see how your skin reacts to this medication. Follow the directions on the package or on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use benzoyl peroxide exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than directed by your doctor.

Salisylic acid is the ingredient in asprin yeah that stuff you take for headaches or a twisted ankle. It is found naturally in many places because it inhibits the growth of bacteria. Plants use it to defend themselves.

Benzoyl Peroxide is an entirely different compound. It is peroxide. It also kills bacteria. Hear the peroxide in the compount like hydrogen peroxide. That is why it bleaches clothing. It is personal preference.

Personally I like Benzoyl peroxide best. My skin finds it gentler. Go for a low strenth like 2.5% or 5% you can get it in 10% but it will burn your skin. Also get one that is made nicely like proactive or peter thomas roth which you can find on sephora.com. You can get it cheap, but it will hurt your skin. If you do not want to join the clear skin club on proactive you can purchase proactive from QVC and get a good return policy also. There are good pharmaceutical grade benz also, but some of the OTC and generic pharmaceuticals are junk. While I advocate generics a great deal for most things some of the acne products are made so junky the make skin worse.

It all depends on the person and the quality of the product. It depends on if it is a wash which is not on the skin long or if it as cream which is on a long time.

I personally have had salycylic acid burn my skin. I have had great luck with good quality benzoyl peroxide. Multiple drying agents can cause a build up of problems. If you have found something that works for you consider yourself lucky and stick with if for as long as it works. Always read ingredients as there are not that many and you do not want to repeat.

Personally I thing benzoyl peroxide is better and have seen others have better luck. See what others say. Perhaps some plants will answer and tell you how it keeps the bugs from attacking them,but they do not get acne. lol

Salicylic Acid is a chemical component of aspirin. Benzoyl Peroxide is an oxidizing agent, that is actually about the only product proven to help with acne.So, the products with Salicylic Acid(aspirin component) don't really help with acne, although they often combine it with acetyl alcohol to make it feel like something's working on your skin, the alcohol slightly burns it. Stick with Benzoyl Peroxide, preferably 10%.

Salicylic acid is acid but peroxide although it may have many of the same properties as an acid i believe is is whats called a base other than that i dont know really what the difference is. on another note Thoe i have noticed that there and non prescription strength medications that are 10.5 percent peroxide

A lot of people respond well to benzoyl peroxide who find salicylic acid either irritating or ineffective. just look at the ingredients of any acne products you are considering trying and make sure they contain benzoyl peroxide, if that is working well for you. That is considered to be the best anti-acne medicine. Salicylic acid is basically an antibacterial agent. I am not sure if the benzoyl peroxide has another function or if it is just another germicide.

they're different compounds, but work similarly. Salicylic acid is actually "aspirin" -- you can make it yourself by putting a few drops of water on an aspirin tablet (uncoated is better).

%10 benzoyl peroxide is very strong -- used to be prescription only, i think.

The one that's "better" is the one which works better for you.

let me help you out i am just getting rid of my acne on my back and shoulders from9 to 16 years of age . i dont know what the othermedicine is but the b.perioxode 5% helped me alot and know i am able to wear all those cute little shirts such as v- necks to wear. please try the b.perixode out gareenteed it wil help you.. nbubt be carefull becasue it will bleach

salicylic acid gets rid of oil that clogs pores. benzol peroxide kills bacteria.
