Do a 25% water change. If he is acting lethargic then he may be coming down with something. The fish will die if you just sit there staring at him, waiting for him to die. Goldies should live well into their teens, sometimes up to 40 years old.
Fish get sick because of poor water conditions- it weakens their immunities. Fix your water. DO NOT change more than 25% of the water at a time. Wait a day or two inbetween. You should see your fish perk up soon.
Goldies need ten gallons per fish. If you have it in anything smaller than that it will keep getting sick. DO NOT get it a 'friend' unless you have a 20 gallon tank.

Ok, here's my story. I'll try to make it short and sweet. I had 13 gold fish for quite a few years (eight I think) and many died all at once and eventually only one was left. He was a very active fish but when the others where gone he started to stay at the bottom of the tank just like yours. I went out and got him a buddy, the same size as him so neither would have the upper hand and it helped him. He came right back to life. It turned out he was just lonely. You should try it!

Mine did that and I got really scared that they were all going to die. I did a water test and it turned out the ph was very low. I changed about 1/4 of the water, and they still stayed the same. I thought mine would die too. Then, like 4 days later, they were all well and happy. Change the water immiediately, then just wait for him to get well. I don't think your fish will die, mine have done that plenty of times and didn't die. I hope your fishy is ok! Good luck.

Probably so. I've had several fish (some were goldfish, some weren't) over the years that did that and died. Had one do it this last week as a matter of fact.

It may not be. It si very hot outside and in the top of the tank the water might be hotter.

Might be. My betta did the same thing and I kinda knew by it's actions that it was going to die and it did.
