She is 2 months old. I havnt tried it yet I was just wondering. She doesnt eat very much at all she is always falling asleep while she is eating. Could it be because she is getting wore out because she is sucking so hard and not getting anything? She wakes up about 30 minutes later and is hungry again and it repeats all over again till she is actually full.

A baby is not ready for anything other than breastfeeding (or formula) until the age of 6 months. They cannot digest cereal before that time, and it exposes them to increased risk of allergies, asthma, and possibly other diseases and health conditions as well. Every health organization worldwide recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months.

They say feed your baby only breastmilk until 6 months, but I think my baby girl was hungry for more. She started getting really fussy about 4 months old and was very hard to live with until we finally fed her rice cereal at 6 months. She's 10 months now and really good-natured. If I to do it over again, I would give her a small bowl of cereal (1/2 cup) once a day starting at 4 months. 2 months seems way too early, but I wouldn't wait till 6 months if your gut tells you she's hungry.

4months old shud be the best time to introduce cereals try feeding ur baby formula's on a larger quantity at 2 months old u can start feeding her about 3- 4ounces every 2-3 hrs time. i'm sure that can keep her full. any babies of 2 months old need to sleep at least 18 hrs a day n as they grow older they tend to move around more n sleep lesser.

you can also speak to ur pd for more clarifications.

Your baby is still too young for solids. The recommended age is at least four months. You can try to stimulate her more at feeding time by removing blankets, burping often, and changing positions. Also a great trick that I learned from my lactation coach is that lightly running your nail over the palm of the baby's hand stimulates the sucking reflex. Try it! Also, you did not mention if your baby was a preemie--if so she may require a bottle that is easier to suck from ask your doc.

I would advise waiting until at least 2 months, longer if the baby is satisfied with just formula or breastmilk. Use a baby spoon to feed cereal, don't put it in the bottle.

I tried feeding my daughter cereal at 1 month old to see if it would help her sleep longer but it never did. I didn't give it to her again until she was around 3 months old. I would put it in her bottle with her milk and cut a large hole in her nipple. The doctor recommended that i shouldn't put it in her bottle but i still did and she is fine.

I kick old school, and don't follow my advice if physican says no. I have raised and help raise more then a few. I have introduced rice cereal as young as 4 weeks for low weight babies in their formula in small amounts and results were excellent. But always consult your baby's doctor 1st.

Babies need to be at least 6 mos. You'll know its time when she starts to reach for food off your plate.
Babies like to suck. She might be eating frequently to increase your supply. If she is falling asleep you can try to undress her first. Changing a diaper first helps, so does taking off socks.
If you are worried about her nutrition, check her weight with your pediatrician and let them know your concerns.

4 months is what they say but i put mine in a bottle at 2 1/2 months and put a slit in the nipple and made sure it was thinned out so she would not choke on any of it
