As Christians (or other religions) we have a basic responsibility to insure that every person has a consistent and quality ethic of life from conception until natural death. Some argue that stem cell research kills unborn children, and naturally murder is the worst encroachment on life. Others argue that those cells are made in a petri dish and would not have naturally become children, and there is a moral obligation to insure the best quality of life for the elderly by trying to cure or treat debilitating diseases. What do you think?

First, remember that most success with Stem cell research has been with adult cells, not cells from the unborn. So we can still have "stem cell research" without having to go down this path.

Secondly, from a Christian perspective, or other religion where life is valued, you have to not only consider the life of the single child which has been ended, but it's important to think about the system.

What if baby stem cells are found to be the cure for something? What will happen? The answer is obvious. People will sell their children before they are born. People may even get pregnant just to sell the child. Or maybe decide to sell the child that they would have otherwise had because they need the money. It's a slippery slope. Stem cell research on the unborn is not the right answer.

I don't know at what point a mass of cells is considered by God to be alive, though the Bible mentions Him knowing us in the womb. I do know that I would rather not guess wrong and kill a potential baby. I am uncomfortable with all this freezing of embryos. Creepy.

I agree with the other posters above who mention other sources...there are other sources. We don't have to cannibalize our young.

The answer is research on umbilical cord blood. It's just as potent as that from a blastocyst or an adut because it hasn't developed, but it causes no harm to anyone. I don't see what's so bad about that.

i'm delighted. i think of stem cellular examine has the main important ability for genuine harm-throughs in dozens of substantial factors, and the concept that's greater advantageous to throw away undesirable embryos extremely than use them is hypocritical interior the severe.
