That depends on where in Alaska that you are going. One of the more popular events in Alaska is the Iditarod sled dog race that is held in March. I was in Nome AK for the end of that one year and it was quite the event. Going up to see Mt McKinley and doing a park tour is also great. Of course there are always fishing adventures, helicopter tours that will take you up to walk on a glacier, and wildlife to see. The small native towns offer one of kind crafted items made of ivory and such. What the small towns lack in sophistication they definately make up for with culture. Each area offers something unique.

The highway from Anchorage to Seward has breathtaking views of the Chugach Mountains.
In Seward, take a day cruise to "north-west Fjord". You'll likely see whales, sea lions, puffins, white-sided dolphin, seals on iceburgs, and tidewater glaciers. I saw a bald eagle too. If you're in shape, hike the Harding Icefield Trail, you might see mountain goats as well as the Harding Icefield itself.
If going in July or August, go to Russian River Falls and watch the Salmon jumping the falls.

There is tons of things to see up here. You could go to denali national park. Where you can see tons of wildlife. and mount mckinley. or go to valdez or homer and do some fishing on a boat. Or go to fairbanks and see old gold mines and stuff like that. or just drive around the state and see all the beauty of the last fronteir. It all depends on what you want. Alaska rocks

EVERYTHING!!!!! It's a beautiful place. My brother has lived there for about 8 years now, and my parents have gone to visit a few times, they loved it. Try checking out a place like Seward, it's a big fishing port up there, but they have boat tours that will take you right up to a Glacier, and you will see whales and sea lions and everything.

JI went on an Alaskan cruise 2 summers ago. In Jeuno we went on a whale watching boat thing. We went kayaking in Skagway and walked around looking at the totem poles in Ketchikan.

where do you begin.... moose... portidge glacier, glacier tour out of Whittier (try not to get lost in Whittier like my mom did), Denali state park, arctic circle, Barrow, whales, Wacillia, Saturday Market in Anchorage, the salmon swimming up stream. Is that enough? There are so many!
