yeah, that really depends on what country you're living in. In this case, if you're living in the U.S.A., of course people would choose basketball instead of soccer and so in the USA, Jordan would be more famous. But Beckham, on the other hand, plays soccer/football (its official name is football but you Americans just have to rename it!) which is also the most popular game in Asia, North America, Europe, maybe also Africa. Soccer/football is like the most played game ever all over the world, so I'd say, if you're not in the USA, you'd more likely to pick Beckham over Jordan

Beckham would be more famous as his fame spreads to the far East, where I've heard that there are golden statues of him in temples. Soccer is a much more globally famous sport than basketball I believe, so that might be a factor too. Oh, we should not forget Posh Spice. She may well account for half of Beckham's popularity

Depends on what country you're in...for some reason I imagine Beckham is more famous in Europe and South America, and Michael Jordan is more famous here.
