I believe for first anniversaries it is traditional to give a gift made from paper. I think this is precisely because people do not have a lot of money the first year. Something made of paper that would be fun are tickets to something, or a gift certificate for something at a spa like a massage. Another idea would be a book you know she'll like. A love letter would be really romantic. These are off the top of my head, I'm sure you can think of many other ideas. Congratulations! A lot of people say the first year is the hardest.

What's your spouse's love language? I am sure if you don't have enough $$ to spend on your 1st anniversary, i am sure your spouse will understand. If her love language is "Acts of Service" then do something for her, like cleaning the house for her etc.
Otherwise, if you really want to be romantic, how about lighting candles and have a quiet night at home with soft music on the back-ground? Cook her a meal and get a flower? 1 stem will do, i'm sure she'll be touched. Or....
- Sing her a song
- Write her a love letter
- A box of choc.?
Good luck and may the 2 of you have a happy marriage!

This may sound really silly but for all my anniversarys so far my hubby has always bought me some stupid expensive gift that I dont really need. And what Ive always wanted and never gotten was a love note. YOu know like the kind kids in school use to write. SOmething really sweet. Trust me if you do that she will love it. First when she gets home make her dinner, run her a bathe with candles and bubbles and all that good stuff and give her the love note to read in the tub. And then taje her in the bedroom and give her some good lovin.. DAmn just thinking about all that sounds good to me... and its cheap!!!!

You can both prepare a wonderful meal together. You can be absolutely creative and have an unforgettable time without spending a lot. Dress nicely as if you were going to have dinner at a fine restaurant. Have some pictures taken. Let her know that you are celebrating the happiest year of your life.

Do something really sentimental that she will remember much more than the chocolate you bought her or the flowers that died one week later, though it depends on your girl,What does she like,Will she remember something material,or emotional?
For instance, would she rather you buy her a diamond pendant,or take her for a candle lit picnic.
hear was my favorite, give her a little scavenger hunt, one rose at the door(for one year) with a little note to her telling her something special that you notice about her..that leads her to the next clue. Then it's your call you can do what ever you like, lead her to a romantic dinner , or to the bedroom, or the bathroom,or to 2 tickets for you to see her favorite band when it opens.
like I said it all depends on what she likes.
But that was a cute idea that meant allot to me. But diamonds and gifts aren't what show me you love me, it's the time you spend with me and how much you consider me in the decisions you make.
hope this helps.

This gift won't cost you a thing, You could draw a nice bubble bath and have a towel in the dryer, so that it is warm for her when she gets out, and light some candles by the bath. Just a thought.

Anything straight from the heart. A nice dinner at home by candlelight, bubble bath, massage, conversation. The best gift is one that comes from the heart.
