LJ is all hype right now, we don't know if he'll have the same performance as last year...Shaun Alexander has done his thing on a yearly basis...We'll find out after this season if LJ deserves the hype for his achievement last year.
Giving LJ praise this early is like saying Bush is a good president because we got Saddam from Iraq....so what....It's only talent if you can repeat the performance consistently.
As I said...we shall see.

Let me tell you why it's Shaun Alexander by a landslide, by following these simple FFB analysis "rules" that I live by.
1. Talent is always the first factor. Look at LJ's first few seasons in the league. Geez, the Chiefs almost cut the guy loose because he was such a lackadasical rookie. Alex has been solid since day one.
2. Be a student of the system. Alex is playing in the same old system, and don't buy the "they lost a guard, they won't be able to run as well (see rule #1). He's still the workhorse. On the flipside, LJ was running in that high-flyin' Dick Vermeil "Best Show on Turf" offensive scheme that turned a virtual no-name (Priest) into fantasy gold overnight. Now he's got a new coach, with new ideas. LJ will still be a workhorse, but he's not going to benefit from those wide, open-field running lanes he had last year.
3. Look at the team. KC has underachieved for a few years now, while Seattle is a safe bet to get to the NFC championship game, anyway.
Bottom Line: Everyone I've seen say LJ is talking about his "upside". You don't draft your #1 pick for "upside", you draft the most solid player on the board. Alex has just as much potential to "break out" as LJ does, so that argument doesn't hold any water. Look at my 3 "rules" and see if I'm not making any sense.
Not that it matters; even if I'm first pick, I'm taking Peyton Manning. RB first round mandatory my foot. All 3 "must get" RB's this year are serious injury risks, in my opinion; and I've had more than one team blow up because I had my first round pick get hurt on me. Peyton is the "Gold" stock in this year's draft, particularly with how much he will seperate himself from the rest of the field this season.
Let everyone else zig, you zag your way to a title.

toddo come on you oover look the fact that the chiefs have the best offensive line in the game...bar none, even without willie roaf. that being said right now S A is the better back. he's been in the league lonegr and has found superstardom in a relativly obscure football town. everything he does on the field can and will be matched by lj in the near future. barring any injuries L.J. ha the potential to be one of the best the game has ever seen. he showed incredible talent and understanding of the chiefs system last year and should have no trouble learning ounder the guide of a capable Herm Edwards. look for this kid to explode soon . but uuntill then alexander is the best back in the league (sorry L.T.)

I live in Seattle... and I'm not picking Shawn because I like the guy.... in fact i hate him. BUT...I'm picking him because of the consistency he's shown, his ability to avoid injuries, the coaching staff's obvious intention of trying to get him the ball in the red zone, and for the talent that Seattle has in the offensive line. Seattle is an offensive team, and they will lead most games. If they get ahead of another team (which is likely because their defense is pretty darn good), they get to run the ball to wind the clock down, and control the game. Has KC been able to produce on both sides of the ball?? no. The simple fact is that Shawn produces numbers because of the TEAM around him. If the team fell apart, if Matt Hasselbeck got injured, or if the Defense allows 28 points or more a game, then get rid of Shawn, because he wont produce nearly as much when the other team can anticipate what plays we are going to call.
.... in case I haven't made this clear... I'm the only person in Seattle that severly dislikes having Shawn Alexander on our team.
