Just because something doesn't cost you money doesn't mean it's free. Remember that all these buy/sell sites need to buy hardware (and big servers are *expensive*) and pay for network bandwidth (also expensive). So you can *easily* be looking at US$250K and up in hardware (Google is well into the $100M of hardware category now)), and bandwidth charges in the thousands of dollars a month.
And of course, all this needs to be paid for, either by the site taking a commission percentage on the sale, or subscription fees, or blatting your screen with banner ads, or other schemes...
