Sometimes I think safety is a matter of luck. In 1985, I lived on Russell Blvd. in the Compton Heights section of South St. Louis. That summer we had 6 people shot to death on our street, which included 2 Nuns who were raped and murdered. My car was stolen twice, but the first time the idiots screwed up the steering column so bad they couldn't hot wire it and the second time it ran out of gas in the driveway of the Adlon building, because my dumb *&@ brother forgot to gas it up. I wish I could have seen the brothers scratching their head when it just stopped on em.
The bottom line is that security is so much about being in the right places, because there are lot of wrong places in every city in America.
Do I feel safe. Yes, for the most part I do, but our security is not something we can ever take for granted. The predators are all around us.
