.xls files are associated with msaccess. You can fix this, without having to uninstall office.

Find an excel file, hold shift down, right click and select "open with..."

You'll then be prompted to specify which program. Find Excel in the list, and choose the option that says that this is now the default program for opening this type of file.

Good luck.

Go to My Computer>Tools>Folder options>File types. Then see whether an icon in that list is named XLS Near the bottom of the folder options window you'd see sumthin saying change click on it a new window opens browse thru the list an click on excel click on OK. Again click on OK.
There is another method, right click on the saved excel document then click on open with and choose excel. It works.

Your file assocaitions are messed up. Access, ofcourse, is Micsoroft DB program...and is often used with Excel.

You should be able to right click ont he file, select Open With... and choose Excel.

To completely fix this manually open File Explorer (My COmputer). Goto:

Tools > Folder Options...

Under file Types Tab

Go down to the XLS extension, click Change. It will list installed programs, select Excel.

Go to any excel file and right click on it
Select Open with... (not open)
Select Choose Program at the bottom of the list
Find and click once on the Excel program to highlight it
Click the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
Click OK
Now files with the xls extension will open with Excel
You can use this trick to associate any extension with any program you want

Are you serious? The bible is God's word or whatever and if you're saying "well don't just read that cause it won't make sense read the scholar's writing too" then you're saying the bible won't make sense and you shouldn't have to read any scholar's writing's to understand the bible. The bible is supposed to be the words to live by and if you need to further understand it with scholars writing's then you know in your heart the bible is pure crap.
