I'm an american girl living in Ireland illegaly at the moment. I'm wanting to go back too the states. I'm paying for my ticket and everything, but I'm wondering if I'll have any problems at the airport? I know that if you're caught over here you'll be deported, possibly put in jail, but I'm going home of my own free will. If anyone could tell me if I'll be able to just go home, or if I'll have to be held in custody or something ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have your US passport, Identification and/or Birth Certificate? You will need that to re-enter the US at any port of call (or airport destination from any overseas flight). If I were you, I would look up in the phone directory or at the local constabulary/manor government house to get in touch with the American Consulate in Ireland and get their help in your return to the states.

When you say that you're in Ireland illegally, do you mean that you did not obtain a visa when you went to Ireland? How long have you been living in Ireland? It is difficult to answer your question without knowing more about your stay. Did you work while in Ireland? Are you an American citizen, or do you hold a passport from another country? Check out this website (or any others for the Irish Embassy) in order to see how long Americans are allowed to be in Ireland without a visa. That should help you. If you did extend your stay, you may get detained in Ireland or in the US and be questioned. But it's hard to say if any legal action would be taken against you.

Why are u concidered illegal, did you break some law....if it is a minor law, then don't worry, are u wanted here in the states, if it is a felony law that u are wanted on then get a good lawer and follow his advise..if not then don't worry, if you want to find out if there is a warrent for your arrest, here in the states all you have to do is call the local police and ask them how to go about doing a warrent check on yourself, don't answer any of their questions about who u are or what u are checking on, just say it is for a friend or boyfriend, something like that, then when u search, you do it by social #,
where u planing on coming back too, and whats wrong with the rest of europe for hidding, or just to live,if you want to chat more write me at wizzard4angels here or on my space...hope to hear back from you.....

It's quite possible that they'd fine you on the way out of the country depending on how long you've been there illegally.... What's the worst they could do - deport you? Mission accomplished, right? you can probably call the Irish gov't and they could tell you what you'd be up against.

Granted if they deported you, they might not allow you back in the country next time... but that's your decision =)
