Recentlty I got 4 fish tanks and I really feel lucky about it but there is a problem. I dont know whether fishes feel my love for them. I think having a pet dog is more wonderful than having fishes because they only serve the purpose of decoration. Whats your opinion?

Of course fishes feel the love! I am sure they appreciate you more then you know. Make a special time each day to connect with your fish before you feed them. Some fish can be trained! And they are oh so cute.

Dogs and fish satisfy completely different needs for most owners. If you ask most people who have fish also have a dog or a cat as well.

Most people keep fish because they are theraputic, they put people at ease. People don't keep dogs to stare at and contemplate- they generally have them for companionship (I'm sure there are other reasons).

I often recommend to people who are thinking about getting a tank to really evaluate why they want one. They are a lot of work to maintain- you have to care for the welfare of the creatures to keep it healthy. Most people don't care and as you suggest, just want a "decoration". If that is what you want then buy a cool sculpture. You only have to dust that occasionally. These are living creatures- they deserve humane treatment and respect.

If you appreciate your fish as simply a decoration then you obviously don't know them very well. Once you have observed your fish for a while then you will begin to recognize individual personalities.

I don't know what love is, what qualifies as love, do dogs feel love? do people feel love? seriously- My fish certainly know i feed them and follow me when I walk by the tank. Is it that love? My boyfriend follows me around when I walk by in something skimpy. is that love?

i think every thing feels luv. but to make shore, try looking up the parts of a fish brain, if they have one, and see if they have the feelings part of the brain. if ucan find that, than they probably do have luv. if u want an animal to luv u, than maybe you should get a dog

Realistically...no. You can certainly hope and pretend, but love is complex emotion that a fish will not feel

Fish don't feel "love" like dogs do but they do know that you are there provider of food. I taught mine to come eat out of my hand. He'll stick his mouth out of the water and take it out of my fingers. Pretty cool.
