Talk to your doctor or doctors and listen to their advice. I would bet with proper meds and a good diet that things will change for the better. You need to commit to making changes though. I know it's tough. I have a good friend with the same problem. I'll pray for you as well.

I am the single parent of an ADHD teenager who will be attending college this fall. YES, he does take his meds daily -- that is part of his responsibility as a teenager living at home to allow himself to go to school (as well as chores).

One thing about the ADHD meds -- every so often your metabolism (body) gets used to the medications, and you need to know when that happens -- that is why you should talk to your MD at the appointments and tell the doctor how you feel on the medications -- you may find out that there is something better to control your symptoms out there.

Also -- did you try therapy for the ADHD as well? Most Health Insurance Plans cover the necessary therapy -- and it does help to join groups that support ADHD and the ADD Diagnoses -- CHADD is one of those (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder). I did attend some of their seminars, because they had good information on helping the ADHD or ADD Child with their symptoms -- and there were splinter groups for adults with ADHD or ADD as well.

Look for an ADHD support group in your area, I haven't connected to one yet but I've heard it's good to be able to hear how others work with it, the questions that come up for them, how they try and find answers for things only ADHD folks are gonna really understand.
There will be things about you, things you enjoy doing especially (do you play an instrument, like to draw, dance? Things that involve you mind and body and feelings all together are wonderful activities to grow and grow through, sometimes there's good information about how these work under "creative medidation" but that is over-simplifying it :). There's no hard fast rule like "you are what you do", but this one I think is a good idea to keep in mind for ADHD folks especially. Develop some supplemental habits such as taking very good care of yourself and pampering yourself with good sleep, good skin care, things that make you feel wonderful and ready to engage life full-on but with full awareness (you probably know what I mean about sometimes we barrell down life like a flight of steps, then sometimes volition seems to evaporate altogether...).

Find a creative outlet (it does not matter if you feel like you have talent -- sincere and regular practice will in time build a place for the talent and vision to bloom, there was a time when learning an instrument was considered standard because music was more a community thing than a broadcast or concert thing, so you would learn to at least play one like you would learn to participate in other community economics) you can sort of own (something you don't have to depend too much on others to be able to practice) and practice when you feel like it. That you will not regret, I am certain of this. You might not fall in love with your first choice, but if you keep tossing them out you're not giving them enough time to start to gel for you at all. It will be so worth it, it is like a companion on the path of life and a way to express so much that words might not. Maybe it will be something like jogging, I am more into the musical thing but I know ADHD folks who pick things like jogging or bicycling or meditation or tai chi for their "Do" outlet. You can probably tell from my writing I'm speaking from my own experience. :)

You know who you are, look inside yourself and you will see. I see someone who has given this allot of thought, their for you must be a thoughtful person. we all have to use restraint in our life's, and sometimes we need to look deep within ourselves to be able to stay in control, but to know that place exists, is to have the power over your own destiny. so never forget who you are inside, and your life is surly to find balance. I am sure that your going to do something wonderful for the world some day, till then learn to seek your inner self.
Best wishes to you my dear.!!!!!!

I am nervous about medication because I feel it is just a money maker. Maybe you should go off the meds and try yoga/meditation.
