First take a short course at a local Agriculture School. you can even open while going to school.
It will help you know what licenses, like pesticide applicator license you need to start,
Second, get a well maintained 2nd hand truck.
One good lawn mower, with a bagger, several barrels, rakes,brooms, leaf blower, edging shovel, spade shovel, flat shovel.
Dust masks, knee pads, boots,rain gear, bug spray,sun screen, wide hat, sun glasses, winter gear if needed, snake chaps also if needed. I big cooler for water, and a personality that JUST WON'T QUIT, because you need to shut up and yes your clients to death, but still do the right thing for the yard.
Oh yeah, clippers pole pruner, hedge trimmers...Did I say weed whacker?
A place that accepts clippings for free, some business cards AND A CELL PHONE . Go FOR IT!
