In Control Panel->Power on the advanced tab, it will have a drop down box asking what you want to do if you press the power button on your computer. Choose the option Shut Down.

Stop it, that is the best answer. You are not supposed to just power the computers down by the button unless the screen is frozen and there is no way to shut down windows properly.

This can be very hard on your system. Go to the start bar and shut windows and your computer down the way you are supposed to.

it would help to know what operating system you are running.
however in the control panel on a windows based computer above win 98 there is a power icon, click it.
now you will see what action the computer has set for the power button and the sleep button where installed.
you need to use the drop down list to set which option is best for you.
each option is self explanatory providing you have good common sense and can read.

Hold in the power button for 10-15 seconds on the other PCs. It is a safety feature to keep you from accidently turning off the PC.

Actually, I would go to "start" "shutdown" and log off the pc that way. It is much better for your pc.

Hope that helps.
