Actually there were several reasons, the most obvious is that the U.S relations in the region have been stretched since The iraq invasion. Of course " under the blankets" so to speak I believe the need was felt to keep syria and iran aware of the fact that we are never very far away and that we are watching their response very closely. That whole region is apt to explode in everyones face in the not so very far future.

Condoleezza, Condoleeza, your no Mona Lisa,,, sorry I was thinking about my 85 year old Dad singing this today,, he is so funny,,,,,,, the Middle East conflict is tragic for the Lebanese civilians,,,, I hope they can find an alternative to violence, but the US has the Bush Doctrine stamp, she can't do squat,,,
